The Mewd Boards
Plus Packing
If you know us, you know we’ll take just about any excuse to play dress-up. We love a theme. A costume. A reason to get wildly + radically self-expressed through what we wear.
Consider this weekend your permission slip to do the same.
From ceremonial whites + desert semi-formal to Bedouin-inspired layers that blend into the breathtaking desertscape, we’ve dreamt up a full four-day arc — each day with its own energy, and naturally, several opportunities to get a little weird with us.
We’ve created a Pinterest mood board for each part of the weekend to give you a feel for the colors, textures, attire + overall vibe we’re dreaming up. These aren’t costumes and there are no rules — just inspiration and a jumping-off point for your own interpretation.
Pack for hot sunshiney days, chilly desert nights, dancing, lounging, wandering, sweating, swimming, stargazing + a lotta bit of magic.
Above all: wear what makes you feel really friggin’ good.
A few items to be sure to bring:
hiking sneakers or boots
reusable water bottle
sun protection: hats, spf, sunglasses
swimsuit
layers: the desert temps drop at night, premission to break out your burningman furs :)
-
You’ve heard the rule: never wear white to someone else’s wedding. But you know we’ve never been all that interested in doing things the traditional way.
We’re dreaming of our entire ceremony washed in whites, ivories + creams — sacred light, angelic energy, flowy fabrics, interesting textures + avant-garde silhouettes. Think ceremonial, luminous, ethereal.
You’ll be walking through the natural desert landscape — mostly paved + gravel, with a little topography — so skip the stilettos and opt for a chunkier heel, boot or something with a little more stability.
-
We’re taking it back to 1970s Palm Springs — but make it Joshua Tree. Think retro resort wear, bold prints, teeny bikinis, funky sunnies, crochet, terry cloth, vintage trunks + plenty of color.
Playful, sexy, vibrant, a little kitschy + not remotely precious. We’ll be poolside, sauna-ing, sipping + soaking up the desert sun. Get wet, get groovy.
-
Our vision is for you to embody the desert herself — Bedouin-inspired, outdoor active leisure in a fully monochromatic palette pulled from your favorite color in the landscape. Think sandy beiges, burnt sunset oranges, dusty rose + mauve, muted pinks + purples, sage greens, deep cactus teals + all the earthy tones of the rocks.
Choose soft, muted layers that almost camouflage you into the landscape — something you can move, wander + explore in. We’ll be capturing you in the desert, and we want you to feel alive, open-hearted + radiant as your essence becomes part of the scenery.
As we transition back to Reset for dinner, you’ll want to add layers for warmth + break out your Burningman fur. -
